Hi guys, how was your first month of the year? I spent most of January not knowing what day it was, so I’m a bit surprised it’s the end of the month already! Here are some of my January favorites:
I was curious about trying a natural deodorant after hearing about the side effects of aluminum which is found in most conventional deodorants. In December, I bought the Dr. Schmidt’s Bergamot + Lime deodorant and have been using it ever since. It’s not an antiperspirant, which means it’s not going to prevent you from sweating, but it will keep you smelling fresh! There are times I notice a little bit of wetness in the underarm area, but it’s not a big deal. As long as I smell good, that’s all that matters (I’ve used it while working it out, and it was fine!). If you’re interested in trying a natural deodorant, I think now would be a good time since it’s winter and people typically don’t sweat as much. I’m curious to see how it will perform in the warmer months. I’ll keep you posted!
Sonicare Diamond Clean Toothbrush
Until recently, I’ve never owned an electric toothbrush so using a Sonicare was a bit of a shock at first. I have the Diamond Clean and it’s amazing! There are 5 different cleaning modes, and although I usually just stick to the first one, it’s nice to have options. I love that it has a 2-minute timer and is divided into quadrants because you really feel like you’re getting a deep clean all over. Also, the brush head is small, and it actually reaches all of those teeth in the back that a manual toothbrush can’t. I am prone to cavities (blame it on the sweets) but am actually excited about my next Dentist appointment, because I feel like I’m properly cleaning my teeth now. Fingers crossed for no cavities!
Q&A a Day: 5 Year Journal
I’ve been wanting one of these journals forever! There are 365 questions, one to answer each day, and when you finish a year’s worth of questions, you start over again with the new year. If you keep it up, you’ll have five years of answers to the unique daily questions. Some of the questions are deep like “What is your mission?” while others are simple such as “Name 3 things you ate today.” You only need to write a sentence or two and it’s such a fun way to record what’s going on in your life and how you feel at the time. I am excited to see how my answers change (or don’t) throughout the years. If you’ve been thinking about getting into journaling or just want to record more of your memories, I highly recommend this Q&A journal.
When I got the flu (again) in January, I discovered a new favorite show on Netflix called The Great British Baking Show. It’s not actually new and can be compared to Cake Wars or similar US competition shows. I love that it’s British though! It’s a really positive and lighthearted show and there’s something so comforting about watching it. The only bad (or good?) part about it is that it makes me want to bake and eat sweets.
I’ve been listening to what the eff podcast by Sydney and Taylor and it’s so good! A little background: Sydney is a blogging OG. Her popular fashion/lifestyle blog, The Daybook, was one of the first ones I followed. Taylor comes from a dancing/design background and started her own activewear company called CoveWear NYC. She and Sydney crossed paths when she hired Sydney as her Creative Director. Together, they saw a lack of podcasts from people who are in the middle of their entrepreneurial journeys and decided to start their own. So often, we listen to stories from people who have already “made it” and their lives seem so unattainable. It’s refreshing to hear two women who are in the midst of it all and trying to figure life out just like you. If you’re into self-improvement and entrepreneurship, definitely give it a listen!
Favorite Blogger Posts
I’m going to start including some of my favorite posts from fellow bloggers, which I think you’ll enjoy as well! Here are a few I loved in January:
The Ultimate Work Pant Review by Krista Robertson
A beautiful post about two people finding love after loss by Joanna Goddard
Plant Based Diet Benefits by Jess Keys
Also, not a blog post, but if you haven’t read Holly Butcher’s story yet, PLEASE DO.
That’s all for this month’s favorites! Let me know what you’ve been loving lately 🙂
